Opening and Closing Ceremonies
The Opening Ceremony will take place in the Arena at IMPACT at 19.00 on Sunday, 11 July 2004. All registered delegates, registered accompanying persons, exhibitors, and media are welcome.

The Closing Ceremony will be held immediately after the Rapporteur Session on the final day of the official Conference program (Friday, 16 July, 2004), also in the Arena at IMPACT.

Community Outreach Initiative
Thailand has a vibrant and varied grass-root NGO movement, with a strong PHA network and over 200 organisations working on HIV/AIDS issues within communities. A range of outreach activities are being prepared across the country to draw communities into the Conference and to bring the Conference to communities. There will be a convergence of community workers and PHAs from across the country, the region and the world at special community events during the Conference. It is anticipated that there will be opportunities for delegates to interact and exchange ideas, experiences and perspectives, and to establish new networks for learning. Further information on these activities and opportunities will be posted on the Conference website as they are confirmed.

Cultural Program
The Cultural program of the Conference will be an embedded and interactive part of the program, providing opportunities to explore expressions, feelings and being part of the solution in living and fighting with HIV/AIDS. The program aims to make the Conference a venue for artistic expression – a Conference with culture.
Alongside the community exhibitions and exchange forums, individual artists, art groups, community groups and musicians will be selected to take part in the Cultural Program. There will be exhibitions of artwork, posters and art projects, live art walls, art workshops, fashion show of AIDS costumes and T-shirts, on-line art projection, media arts, films, performances, dance, music, songs, poetry reading, community parades and an AIDS Memorial Quilt display. Cultural activities will carry over into the city, playing a major role in communicating the emotions and issues around HIV/AIDS to the people of Bangkok and Thailand.

Community Project

In the spirit of the Unified Program, communities and PHAs have worked within the Conference organising process at every level to ensure that critical issues for communities are included in the Conference Program, and that Conference arrangements meet the needs of community delegates. As part of this effort, the CPC Secretariat has developed specific “community projects”.
