The Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS)

The Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) brings together eight UN agencies in a common effort to fight the epidemic: the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the World Bank.

As the main advocate for global action on HIV/AIDS, UNAIDS leads, strengthens and supports an expanded response to the epidemic aimed at preventing the transmission of HIV, providing care and support, reducing the vulnerability of individuals and communities to HIV/AIDS, and alleviating the impact of the epidemic.
