Travelling to Bangkok
Entering Thailand
Visa: It is important to note that all delegates are required to possess a valid passport (validity not less than 6 months) and hold the correct documents for entry to Thailand. Delegates are advised to check with their nearest Thai diplomatic or consular representative office or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand website for information on visa requirements. Customs (Entry): Three items are strictly prohibited: narcotics, obscene literature and firearms. Cigarettes should not exceed 200 in quantity and only one litre of alcoholic beverage is allowed. Certain species of fruits, vegetables and plants are also prohibited.
Customs (Exit): It is prohibited to take Buddha images, holy relics and fragments from historical sites. Owners of antiques and artistic objects, regardless if they are originals or reproductions, must obtain a license from the Department of Fine Arts before they are allowed to take these objects out of the country.
Health Regulations
No vaccinations are currently needed for entering Thailand. It is recommended that you are immunized against polio, typhoid, tetanus and hepatitis A and B.
Thailand has no specific restrictions on entry for people living with HIV/AIDS. However, be sure to familiarise yourself with the rules and regulations of all countries through which you may have to travel on your way to Thailand.
Delegates who have traveled from or through the countries which have been declared Yellow Fever Infected Areas must present the International Health Certificate providing that they have received a Yellow Fever Vaccination to the Immigration Officer upon arrival at the port of entry in the Kingdom. The Ministry of Public Health has laid down regulations that applicants who have traveled from or through the countries which have been declared Yellow Fever Infected Areas must provide an International Health Certificate.
