Leadership Program
The Leadership Program is designed to bring global attention to the role and concrete contribution of leadership, from all sectors and all parts of the world. Highlights include:
- Representation at the Conference from governments, multilateral and international institutions, community, people living with HIV/AIDS, NGOs, youth, women, religious institutions, the scientific community, the private sector, media, entertainment industry, as well as political leaders, artists, intellectual leaders and sports personalities;
- Concrete commitments from leaders across sectors in five key areas: supportive policies; scaled up programming in prevention, care and treatment; increased human and financial resources; mobilising their peers in the response; and accountability;
- Expanded support for efforts to combat HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination; and
- Development of the Leadership Statement 2004, a pledge by assembled leaders to undertake concrete actions to achieve the goals set forth in the UNGASS Declaration of Commitment.
